Woke up pretty early this morning without much to do. I decided to take the pup out for a hike, since it had been a week or so since our last one. I pulled out the topo map and searched around Avon. There’s a trail that I had seen on the map before, but couldn’t find much information on it. What better day to check it out?

The trail itself was okay. There were a few areas where Snooch and I were able to get a bit of shade, but overall the grass on the trail was really overgrown. There were certain areas toward the end where we couldn’t really see the trail at all, which led to my accidentally stepping on a snake. It freaked the poor little guy out, and he took off, but at that point, we only hiked about another quarter-mile. It didn’t look like the trail was clearing up any, and Snoogans has a bad habit of trying to paw at snakes.

A few areas were pretty cool with beautiful views. We crossed a stream a few times over rocks and logs, and some of the wildflowers and weeds were taller than I am. The amount of flying bugs was a little intense, which makes me think I’ll be hiking this trail more in the fall than the summer again.
